Bionic — Price Cap campaign

The price cap headline was everywhere. We made sure micro businesses knew it wasn’t for them.

We helped Bionic turn a national news moment into a clear call to action — interrupting a widespread misconception and positioning Bionic as the partner that protects businesses from rising energy costs.

When reassurance creates risk

When a new domestic energy price cap hits the headlines, consumers feel safer. But for businesses, that same message creates a dangerous assumption: that they’re protected too. They aren’t.

Bionic saw an opportunity to seize the moment — using the announcement as a trigger to educate businesses, create urgency, and drive comparison and switching at exactly the right time.

A campaign built for clarity and urgency

1

Myth-busting message that cuts through price cap noise

2

Strong, brand-owned visual metaphor for protection

3

Channel-flexible system built for paid social, display and high-impact formats

4

Clear progression from education to action

Interrupting the misconception

1

Domestic customers hear “price cap” and feel protected

2

Businesses hear “price cap” and assume it applies to them

3

That assumption leaves them exposed to higher prices and out-of-contract rates

Our job was to stop that misunderstanding fast — then give businesses a clear solution.

Brand Maximisation™ strikes.

  1. Turning a news moment into a brand moment

We reframed the price cap as a warning rather than reassurance. If you’re a business, you’re exposed — and Bionic has a role to play: protection.

  2. Using a shield as a promise

The shield becomes the central visual metaphor, integrated into Bionic’s existing supporter photography. Lightning represents both energy and threat — the thing businesses rely on, and the thing that can hit them without protection.

  3. Designing for channel flexibility

The campaign was built as a single overarching route — Protection — with executions ranging from bold, statement-led myth busting to benefit-driven switching prompts.

A system designed to drive action

The result is a bold, modular campaign designed to educate quickly and convert decisively — from high-impact headlines (“There’s no price cap for business energy”) to action-led messages backed by savings proof points.

Redirecting the conversation

Bionic didn’t just join the price cap debate — they redirected it. From domestic reassurance to business reality, using a brand-owned protection device that makes the message impossible to miss.
